2008 MEN'S CONFERENCE
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is the cost? Go back and click on the “Register Now” button

2. When is the conference? Friday evening through Sunday morning – August 8, 9 &10, 2008

3. What time does the conference begin? The "WELCOME RECEPTION" begins at 4:30pm on Friday. The actual program begins at 7:00pm

4. Where is the conference? The Keuka College Campus – For more information go back and click on the “About Keuka” button.

5. Who is this conference for? All men and all boys ages 12 and older.

6. Who is speaking? Rev. Bill Dodge, Executive Director of the Utica Rescue Mission

7. What should I wear? Dress is casual.

8. Is lodging available? Yes, on campus lodging is available for the men & boys that are attending the conference – If you would like to bring the entire family, there are some fine hotels and camp sites nearby. Your family can go sightseeing or shopping while you attend the conference.

9. If I want to stay at a local hotel or campsite, what is the procedure? You are on your own – ABMen NYS will be responsible for on campus lodging only. Go back and click the “Yates County C of C” for listings of restaurants, shopping, hotels and campsites.

10. What time can I check in at the conference? After 4pm on Friday August 8 th.

11. How will I know where I am staying?  If staying on campus you will be assigned a room at the registration table upon check in.

12. What should I bring if staying on campus? See question # 15.

13. Will recreational facilities be available? There will be swimming in the lake available on Saturday and possibly some of the college's athletic facilities will be available.

14. Will meals be served Friday August 8 th? There will be a "Welcome Reception" held at Hegman Hall at 4:30pm on Friday. There will be sandwiches, chips & drinks served and more...

If you would prefer something more substantial there are a number of restaurants within 5 miles of the conference such as - The Log Cabin, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Seneca Farms etc. Go to the Yates County Chamber of Commerce page for specifics.

15. What should I pack?   We want everyone's conference experience to be enjoyable and worshipful. Nothing can ruin a trip faster than arriving and not having a particular item you need. Below is a list of suggested items you may find helpful to bring with you. Hope to see you there!

  • A Bible
  • Notepad and Pen/Pencil
  • Toiletries (Towel and Wash Cloth provided, Bring Toothbrush, toothpaste, drinking cup, etc.)
  • A bathing suit and towel to use for the pool
  • Extra pillow, if desired (one is provided with your room)
  • Blanket, if desired (sheets are provided with your room)
  • Travel Alarm clock
  • Spending money (Free-will offerings are taken at the banquet Satuday evening, the Saturday Concert and Sunday worship meeting, and there is a bookstore available in the registration area)
  • Comfortable clothes and clothes for Sunday worship (no dress-code is imposed, but some men like to dress for church)  
  • Camera (still or video)
  • Radio or Tape/CD player to play music quietly in your room
  • Night-light for your room (if desired)
  • a padlock to secure your valuables 
  • Hangers to hang your clothes in the room
  • A Friend

16. Are sleeping quarters air conditioned?   YES - This year all rooms are air conditioned

17.  Is there a special young men's program?  YES!  They have their own leader and will participate in TeamWorks at the Birkett Mills/Keuka College Challenge Experience which consists of a ropes course and lots of other fun activities .
