ABMen NYS Email Newsletter

Welcome to our first edition of the ABMen NYS Email Newsletter. This newsletter is part of our effort to improve our communications ability while stil being good stewards of the funds entusted to us.  

Men's ministry is getting stronger in New York State. Please take advantage of some of the opportunities offerd by ABMen NYS. 


ABMen are Heading South to build Habitat for Humanities homes in Mississippi

As you may already know National Ministries has partnered with Habitat for Humanities to build seven homes in Gautier, Mississippi. Please contact us for more detailed information.

Call to Action: ABMen NYS would like to inform you of a great ministry opportunity leaving from the Rochester area in the first week of Feburary. The team will be leaving for Gautier on Sunday Feb 4th and returning on the 10th. There is a cost of $100 for the week to cover food and lodging at the Salvation Army Volunteer Village.

The 2007 "ABMen Father and Son (and anybody else)" Golf Topurnament is coming up on August 10th. The tournament will be held at the Seneca Lake Country Club in Geneva New York with the proceeds going to the ABMen NYS Booster Club Project. Watch for more information coming out soon.

The 2007 Athletes in Action Super Bowl Breakfast –

This annual event, held in the Super Bowl host city and hosted this year by Brent Jones, will showcase the life stories and personal faith testimonies of football greats such as Bart Starr, Anthony Munoz, Tony Dungy, and players from both of this year’s Super Bowl teams.

 Bring the family and let's get together on Saturday, February 3 to have breakfast, enjoy some fellowship, and most important, hear the testimonies of some of their favorite NFL players – live via satellite from Miami!

This exciting event is being brought as a co-operative effort between ABMen NYS and The Port Byron Federated Chuch. This is a fantastic outreach opportunity - Bring your unchurched friends - They are already excited about the Super Bowl – It’s the most watched event of the year! This year, why not leverage that excitement into an outreach event?

Training Workshop
Event Planning: Blueprint for Success
Saturday Feb. 24th
9:00am to 12:30pm

  ABMen NYS has partnered with John Buskey, Outdoor Ministries, and the Port Byron Federated Church to
present a timely workshop that we all can use.
This workshop is designed for nonprofit staff and volunteers charged with setting up events, meetings, trainings and/or other gatherings.

Whether you call it meeting management, event planning, meeting planning, or conference planning—no matter how large or small, every event needs to be properly planned
We know that event or meeting planning can be challenging, and we hope this information will be helpful to you.
         -> How do you make it through all those committee
              and planning meetings without loosing your mind.
         -> Develop a master plan
        
-> Objectives - What do you want from the event?
         -> Who is your target audience?
         -> Strategies for Success

         -> Organize volunteers for your committees

When was the last time you went to camp??
The ABMen Spring Work Outing at Camp Vick

Friday and Saturday, May 11th and 12th we will be at Camp Vick for a bit of Leadership training and some good old fashioned manual labor.. The leadership traing will be lead by John Buskey.

We all want to be better men. Better husbands. Better dads. Better leaders. These few days away at camp will provide you with opportunity to re-charge and re-focus spiritually. A chance to be encouraged that you're not alone in your struggles and that God is waiting to meet you right where you are. AND don't worry - you will be back in plenty of time for Mother's Day.
Dates: May 11th and 12th
Times: Arrive Friday at 6pm for dinner
             Leadership Training Workshop at 7pm
             Saturday: Breakfast - Work - Work and more Work
             Saturday Afternoon - Leave around 3(ish)
Cost: $25 per Person

Dress warm & bring a warm sleeping bag and work clothes.
